[Grammar] Future Tense -(으)ㄹ 거예요


The future tense is a little bit different than the past and the present tense.  If you don’t remember the pas tense and the present tense, click here(past tense/present tense) to review it.

The form of the future tense is -(으)ㄹ 거예요.  Let’s look at how to add to a verb.

(저는) 내일 학교에 안 갈 거예요.
I am not going to school tomorrow.
(저는) 친구한테 선물을 줄 거예요.
I am going to give a present to my friend.
(저는) 오늘 12시에 점심을 먹을 거예요.
I am going to have lunch at 12 today.
(민수씨,) 오늘 영화 볼 거예요?
Minsu, are you going to watch a movie today?
(유진씨,) 내일 뭐 할 거예요?
Yujin, What are you going to do tomorrow?
오늘 민수 씨가 올 거예요.
Minsu will come today.
유진 씨가 이 음식을 안 먹을 거예요.
Yujin won’t eat this food.


**Many Koreans write this as -(으)ㄹ 꺼에요 because of its pronunciation. If you see anyone write it wrong, please correct them. 🙂

  1. hello teacher , i have some problems ,
    what different between (민수씨,) 오늘 영화 볼 거예요?​​ and (민수씨,) 오늘 영화 볼까요?​​ is it possible to use both ? or one them is wrong ?
